Mentoring

Pushed by some of my fellow traders and more recently, followers on Twitter, I have increased my commitment to mentoring sessions. At first I was a bit hesitant about it but I really do enjoy it and it does also keep my sharp. However, a good ‘fit’ with the person who is looking for guidance is essential.

As with most things in life, good and clear communication is at the heart of every successful relationship and that is why it is important that you know what I can offer before we jointly decide if we should work together, as I do not offer any get rich quick scheme.

Forex trading is hard, really hard and it is a constant battle with yourself to stick to you plan, follow the rules and control your emotions. What I can offer is the perspective of a self-taught trader that has made the step to make this his full-time profession and attempt to guide you as to what I feel is important in order to make it in this field.

I usually schedule 1 hour sessions through Skype where we talk about how to structure your trading as a business, important trading psychology and account management before we can start look at market dynamics, trade set-ups and understanding / finding the best possible way for you to trade. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to trade, just whatever is best for you, however, even before you can tackle this, you need to understand what it means to be a trader and how the markets work…

If you are interested and want to discuss this further, just leave me a comment on this page with your email address, I will not publish it and will get back to you a.s.a.p.

Looking forwards to hearing from you > stay safe ;-)

N.B. > I hate to put this out there now but just to be upfront, as there have been some misunderstandings, I would like to precise that I have decided to pay it forward and help novices out through the twitter account, the blog and the free webinars, however, the 1-on-1 mentoring is not free, it’s a paid service as I have to take time away from my trading time. I trust you can understand this…

  1. Hi..Chris here from Toronto..I enjoy your insight on the markets..just wondering if your channel indie is available (if that is one your using)..I’m using one but its different than yours and I would like to have the same channels as you..Thanks,Chris

  2. Hey 50..just wanted to thankyou for your tweets and webinars..I’m learning alot from you…another question aswell..is your fib standard MT4 because mine dosn’t have the numbers above zero..i.e 123.6 150/ nor does it show price..ex from your Eur/Chf http://50pipsfx.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/eurchf7072010.gif
anyway..I hope this isn’t a dumb question and I’m missing the obvious but WTF right..Thanks Chris

  3. Hi 50, I am a bit getting confused with different time frames. Is is better to stick with one time frame and not watch any other time frames?

    • Hi, it really depends on your system and set-up. Looking at different time-frames can help you spot price developments and trend direction but it is entirely possible to trade simply using one.. whatever is best for you.

  4. Hi, 50pipsfx
Could you tell me (tell us) what are those Red lines (thin ones & tick ones) that cross the charts you display? TIA

    Best regards
    BBF

    • Hi > Support and resistance to keep in mind for the day. Thicker means more important. We talk about these in the webinars too. Have a great day.

  5. Thanks, much appreciated ;-)

  6. Thank you for your comment.

  7. I am not sure you you were inquiring about mentoring or just a general comment, please let me know if you were looking for the former. Thanks.

  8. Thanks for the note sir. Don’t mean to be rude but as you can imagine, I am usually running tight on time. If you just want to have a chat, I will do my best, but if you are serious about mentoring, we can schedule a time to talk. Just let me know. Thanks 50.

  9. Hello Ravi, I answered your email but got no reply just checking if you got it. Thanks.

  10. that i am not publishing it for everyone to see ;-)

  11. Hello 50,

Like your blog and trading style, i.e. simple, clear and elegant. I’m in the process of getting back to basics, stripping my charts (they’re almost naked now :) ) Is there a work on Fib studies that you recommend? I have always used them and have one book by Edward Dobson (quite old but useful). Your efforts are helpful and much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Anna

    • Thank you for your kind note Anna, I am afraid, I don’t have anything is mind purely on fibs…. I would focus on reading about trader psychology, that’s the key!

      • Yes, that is true, 50. I prolly need a shrink rather than a trading mentor! For some reason getting into the trade is my challenge. Maybe to much analysis (paralysis). Something to work on. We can often make things too complicated.

      • Indeed, it’s not rocket science but very hard nonetheless. Let me know if you are interested in mentoring…. but again, focus hard on controlling your mind, that’s the key.

  12. Thank you for your note Christian. I am sorry but I do not make trade calls or recommendations. I try to do my best and pay it forward with the free content that is available on the blog, my market commentary on twitter and the Free Sunday Webinars. My focus is on helping and teaching traders how to trade for themselves. You can always listen to my last webinar for my view on Aussie, I don’t believe it has change much or attend the free webinar on Sunday and I will try to review the pair live if you attend and remind me to do so ;-)

  13. Hello 50pips,

Have been following your for months now. Thanks for all the work you put out there. It’s much appreciated.

I have a very simple question. Can you recommend any good forex brokers? I’m currently with IB, but their charting platform is very bad. An eSignal subscription is too expensive, so I’m looking for a broker that offers good charting.

    Thanks in advance.

I wish you good health and great ROI for 2011.

    • Thank you, much appreciated. I am sorry but broker selection depends on a lot of things: account size, trading strategy, trading volumes, etc… just too difficult to tell. The only thing I would say is that mt4 offers a good charting package and you do not actually have to trade with it ;-) I use mt4 for my charts but trade directly through broker order book. IB can be a pain but execution and comms are great. Hope this helps and a great 2011 to you too.

  14. Quick question for you. Are your mid-week paid webinars recorded?

    Thanks

  15. Hey 50! Nice sunday’s webinars you do, great stuff indeed

  16. thanks , i’ve been enjoy reading and learning from you….

  17. Thanks, please check your email.

  18. See you in the Webinars then ;-) BTW, keep in mind that I would focus on learning and drafting a plan before thinking of making $$ and trading live…

  19. Hi 50, I have been following you on twitter and watching sunday webinars for a month or so, I intend to sign up for Wednesday, but concerned as i am not completely understanding Sunday yet, do you get more detailed info or is it a case of just watch and learn?
    Regards
    Paul

PS what does the term OX stand for in your tweets?

    • Thanks Paul, the Wed one is a smaller group and really focused on explaining and learning so you’ll get a lot more out of those sessions for sure… OX stands for Option Expiries but I wouldn’t worry about that for now. Hope to see you n the wednesday session too.
Thanks for following, all the best,
      50

  20. Hello Steven, the email you provided is bouncing….

  21. great site/great tweets and love the webinar. i wonder if you would consider a live room. not to make calls but for guidance and to get a feel for the market. i think many of us would pay for this service to develop our trading skills. as you know the problem is putting knowledge into action.

  22. I did tweet a message to you recently but due to limited text allowed my message probably did not make much sense when read back, so I will write it here.
I have been following you on twitter, blog, videos and your Sunday webinar for about 2 months now, up to now my trading has been hit and miss. Last Friday something clicked (light bulb came on) and I really started to understand your analysis of the charts. This weeks trading was a transformation and my best week yet. I’m not complacent but so chuffed with my progress and can’t thank you enough for all you do for us new guys and not so new guys. You have really made me study/think and I believe that has been so beneficial to my progress.

    Thank you 50.

  23. Hi 50,

I’ve been following your twitter and blog updates for few months and interestingly I feel your method is the simplest yet difficult to fully understand it.

I’ve been overloaded with information regarding FX market due to some external factors which affecting my trading decision. I’m able to double my account but that’s only to give it back again to the market which lead me to evaluate what’s wrong with myself.

I’m intending to sign up for your Live Session Webinars somewhere next week or maybe I even sign up to become your apprentice. Anyway, I just want to say thank you for all the information that you’ve been posted on the twitter / blog and also the free webinars that you’ve conducted. I’m really appreciate it.

    Thank you 50.

    • Thank you for your note and kind comments. As as as the ‘doubling account’ goes, I would say that there is a good chance that you are trading with too much leverage and that you are not honoring your stops when you give it back…. focus on sticking to rules and trading the right % win rate for the risk/reward and there is no reason why you should not stay profitable ;-) All the best, 50.

  24. I´d like to receive further info about your live chatroom.

    Thanks

  25. your email seems to have a problem.

  26. email back at you ;-)

  27. info in your in-box mike, looking forwards to your reply ;-)

  28. hello again 50
as a principle i dont give up on a good thing easily
i didnt want to disturb u after u said its impossible for us to go further cos paypal doesnt work in my country nigeria

here is their site for ur perusal and approval they are trusted and secure https://www.onlinenaira.com/
so pls if u will pls mentor me i’d like to know the cost implications thanks a million

  29. hi 50Pips.

couple of questions. first is whether you use anything other than paypal on the midweek webinars. secondly, i know you do not manage fx funds, or give advice, but do you have a list of reputable fx managers so i can make a good informed choice. i may have less time for trading shortly. thks as usual for all the help. max

    • Hello Max, everything I do is through paypal, there is no other option available, sorry if that is an issue for you.

In terms of fxmanagers, I am afraid that I would not be comfortable making any recommendation and have no list that I know is not BS ;-)

Wish I cold have been of more help…

      50

  30. 50 I’m interested in the Wednesday skype/class time, whats the cost? Thanks Swolpippin

  31. I just want to thank you for putting on these Sunday webinars. Your time, chart reads and input are much appreciated!

  32. Hi 50,
I’ve been following you for a while and really appreciate the free trade experience that you make available through your website. I was wondering if you can provide us with some guidance towards choosing a good forex broker too.

    Regards,
    Madhur

    • HI, thanks for you kind comments, I am sorry but there are way ti many things to factor in , very subjective, just stick with the big ones, preferably ECN. Have a great day.

  33. Hi Paul, yes all the sessions are recorded and a link is sent out as soon as they are finished.
Hope to see you there ;-) Al the best,
    50
