Fragile Recovery
“You are neither right nor wrong because people agree with you.” – Benjamin Graham
As discussed in the latest weekly outlook video we are hovering around key levels across the board. The next ‘healthy move’ seems to be fairly clear on the charts but it’s still struggling to get real traction. Equities looked very fragile yesterday but the ‘magical’ bid in tech stocks saved the day. We suspect that action could have turned very ugly across the board had it not been for the Nasdaq holding.
Here are some of the key charts we’ll be discussing and focusing on today:

All eyes will be on President Trump in Davos and the ECB today. The bigger picture remains in tact > latest weekly outlook video.
As we discussed yesterday in our morning call, looks like the BTD crowd is still out in full force but the velocity of the down moves remains very telling. On the single stock side, as we have been posting on twitter, we are focused on the action in Apple.
Don’t forget to keep an eye on ZBs and ZNs > they are still hovering just above key structural supports.
Fingers crossed for an interesting day with plenty of opportunity across the board 😉

“There’s no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equal as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that [is] that. I am not talented, I am obsessed.” – Conor McGregor
Don’t forget to check out our latest weekly outlook video; as we discussed, action in the DXY is going to be a key driver this week. We will be discussing this in detail today along with recent action in Crude and Bonds…
In case anyone missed all the discussions about equity performance outside of regular training hours, this is a good recap. We live in truly exceptional times…
1/2 Remarkable: Since 1993, if you bought SPY on open/sold on close each day, return would be -5.2%…but if you did opposite & bought on close/sold on open next day, return would be 568% (meaning more than ALL performance came in after-hours trading) Source: @bespokeinvest pic.twitter.com/qXayCPOWTh

2/2 Even looking back just over past year, more of SPY’s price move higher came outside normal trading hours…you’d be up 12.9% if you bought SPY at close/sold at open on following trading day…if you bought at open/sold at close, you’d be up only 8.6% Source: @bespokeinvest pic.twitter.com/CQjfANvQy3

Very nice reaction on our Crude chart yesterday; today the focus will be on the USD. Make sure you keep an eye on how we trade post the CPI release as things could get very interestng as we move into the 3 day weekend.

As we discussed in the latest weekly outlook video, shorter-term, the focus is on a USD bounce, with the asymmetric risk/reward being on tactical EURUSD shorts. It’s all about follow-through now and don’t forget to keep an eye on ZBs.

Not a lot to add to our latest weekly outlook video and morning call.
In terms of equities, we’ll have to see if we price this tax plan back into the market yet another time or if we continue to see some profit taking. As far as the levels are concerned, it’s all about the weekly range we have put in so far; bullish above / bearish below.
Here are some of the other key charts we will be focused on and discussing today:
